Born amidst the flames of war, Chongqing University has always kept in mind the great spirit of 'Reviving the nation, vowing to be at the forefront', adhering to the educational mission of 'Researching academics, cultivating talents, benefiting the local community, and guiding society'. Over its 92 years of establishment, the university has cultivated more than 400,000 high-quality talents for the country, among whom more than 40 have become academicians of the two academies.

Chongqing University is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, a high-level research-oriented comprehensive university receiving special support from the state under the '211 Project' and '985 Project', and a university selected for the 'World-Class University' construction program (Class A). It is one of the 31 universities authorized to independently review and approve academic degree programs, and is also a pilot university for the 'Strengthening Basic Disciplines' enrollment program.

It encourages and supports teachers and students to study abroad (or in other regions) for academic exchange, with the average annual number of students studying abroad (or in other regions) reaching over 3,700.

Implement the 'Undergraduate Education 2029 Action Plan', build a personalized and diversified talent cultivation system of 'general education + professional education + innovation and entrepreneurship education'. Establish specialized talent cultivation colleges such as Hongshen College, Boya College, UC Joint College, Mingyue Science and Innovation Class, etc., to create a pilot base for innovative talent cultivation, liberal arts education, Sino-foreign cooperative education, and new engineering education.

Leading the completion of humanity's first lunar surface biological growth and cultivation experiment, establishing the world's first natural ice-covered test base for energy equipment, and for the first time in the world, overcoming centrifugal granulation technology to 'achieve three goals at once' in recycling blast furnace slag.

Located by the Jialing River, backed by Gele Mountain, the architecture combines classical and modern styles, with a beautiful environment and profound cultural heritage. All indoor areas are equipped with air conditioning; the 4-person apartments have independent balconies, water heaters, water dispensers, and internet access; the dining hall is designed to be warm and creative, and the library and the bookstore under the dormitory building are especially simple and elegant.

In 2021, the university established an undergraduate college to strengthen undergraduate general education. 86 regular undergraduate programs are recruited under 10 major categories (12 major categories in provinces implementing the '3+1+2' new college entrance examination reform), comprehensively promoting major category-based enrollment, major category-based cultivation, and major category-based management. In 2021, four new majors were also added: Chemistry, Intelligent Construction, Intelligent Perception Engineering, and Energy Storage Science and Engineering.
