The 'Pioneer' of electronic information institutions, the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, is the first higher education institution of electronic information established after the founding of New China, a key university directly under the Ministry of Education, and one of the first to be selected for the '211 Project', '985 Project', and Class A university in the national 'World-Class Universities' construction program.

In the fourth round of national first-level discipline evaluation, the two disciplines of Electronic Science and Technology and Information and Communication Engineering were rated A+.
